When the words "North", "East", "South" and "West" are used as a prefix or suffix to a street name, the abbreviated form "N", "E", "W" or "S" must be used.

SEE EXAMPLES BELOW:

WRONG:
EAST 72ND STREET red X mark

CENTRAL PARK WEST red X mark

RIGHT:
E 72ND STREET green check mark

CENTRAL PARK W green check mark

However when used as part of the proper name as in "SOUTH STREET SEAPORT"
or "WEST STREET" use the full word.

To indicate an intersection use the "&" or "@" symbols in place of the words "AND" or "AT".
